Norways first plastic sorting plant

Plastretur, Grønt Punkt Norge and Tomra wanted a new name and visual identity for their new plastic sorting facility at Holteskogen, the first plastic sorting plant in Norway.

Områ means to pause and reflect. Exactly what we need to do in today’s world. We must rethink what we do with our plastic. At Områ, plastic is sorted using state-of-the-art technology, enabling it to be recycled and used again. Plastic is a raw material, and Områ stands for raw materials - again.

At Cretalux we eveloped the name Områ and the accompanying visual identity. The logotype is designed with a circular “O” that conveys movement, echoing the circular system that plastic is part of.

The color palette is derived from Områ’s owners: Tomra and Plastretur. Purple is also associated with plastic in Norway, represented by the purple collection bags.
